I met Joan Jett (for a hot second) backstage at the 1984 MTV New Years Rockin’ Eve ball. She was talkin’ to Joey Ramone (RIP) and they were both drunk off their asses. Hey, we all were—it was New Year’s Eve! Anyway, I had a backstage pass (with a pink high-top sneaker on it) and I had accidentally stumbled into the wrong door while looking for the bathroom. She was like, “Hey, how you doin’?”. She showed me where the john was and went back to her convo like it was nothing. She was pretty cool. Not stuck up or phony at all.

I have been reading her blog. She is so funny. She has a great outlook on life and a cool list of things she wants to do! Also, she has great taste in music.
